Charles Wesley Burns, 73, went home to be with the lord Sunday, May 13, 2012. He was surrounded by his wife and family. He was a lifelong resident of Charleston, and was retired from Browning Ferris, Inc. and Lewis Raines Motors.He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Charles and Bessie Burns; and a very special aunt, Gladys Campbell.
He is survived by wife, Catherine Lawrence Burns; brother, Henry Burns of Elkview; sister and brother-in-law, Hattie and James Langehiem of Ohio; sons, Charles Jr. of Braxton County and Allen of Big Chimney; daughter, Shirley Skeens of Dunbar; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Ricky Painter of Elkview; stepsons, Charles Cantrell and wife, Brandy, of Cross Lanes and Brandon Cantrell of Charleston; stepdaughter, Leslie Cantrell of Sissonville; grandchildren, Rebecca Skeens, Travis Skeens, Jeremy Painter and Gene Stutler; step-grandchildren, David and Brandy Anderson and Charles, Caraigen and Hunter Cantrell of Cross Lanes; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Travis, Chanler and namesake, Charles (Charlie) Skeens, Kendra and Laten Bowling and Lydia and Chloe Painter. A celebration of his life will be Saturday, May 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, 3845 Chesterfield Ave., Charleston. The Rev. Adam Short will be officiating.
She was born in St. Albans on February 9, 1931, the daughter of the late John and Edna Head. Dottie graduated from St. Albans High School, class of 1948, and Marshall University in 1952 with a B.S. degree in psychology.
Dottie worked for Family Services in Huntington as a social worker until starting a family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim; children and their spouses, Matthew and Lisa of St. Albans, Andrew and Karen of Charleston, Samuel and Sherri of St. Albans, and David and Kerri of Naples, Fla. Also surviving are her loving grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Mike Long, Rachel and Mike Ervin, Rebekah Call, Natalie and Lance Vaughan, Tatem Childers, Kirsten Call, Drew Call, Anna Call, Joseph Call, Allison Call and Ryan Call; great-grandchildren, Michaela Long, Sophia Long, Eliyah Ervin and Ella Vaughan; and her sister, Marjorie Head.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 815 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans, with the Rev. Loretta Isaiah officiating. Burial will be on Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Mr. Harless "Hod" A. Mahaney, 91, of Nitro passed away on May 20, 2012, following a short illness.He was born January 1, 1921, in Clendenin, the son of the late Jennie Wince Mahaney and Perry Thomas Mahaney. He was also preceded in death by sister, Edith Crosier; and brothers, Lawrence and Wayne.
A World War II Navy armed guard veteran, he served aboard the Point Breeze and the Cape Falcon as a gunner. He had been retired from Union Carbide after 31 years. Hod was a prominent beekeeper in the Kanawha Valley and was featured in the Charleston Gazette Mail. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting until the age of 90. He was a member of the Rock Branch Independent Church in Nitro.
Harless is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Burke Taylor Mahaney; one son, Larry Mahaney and his wife, Winifred, of King George, Va.; one daughter, Judy Jarrett, and her husband, Ralph, of Cross Lanes; four grandchildren, Andrew, Allison, and Barney Mahaney, and Doug Jarrett; and eight great-grandchildren, Andrew, Justin, Luke, Emma, Lilly, and Abigail Mahaney, and Owen and Austin Jarrett; and two step-great-grandchildren, Cameron and Kennedy Kiner.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home in Poca.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Rock Branch Independent Church, Nitro, with Pastor Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

Tarone Lee Taylor, 31, of Charleston went home to be with his Lord on May 17, 2012.He was a graduate of Capital High School and was a gentle soul that left us far too soon.
His survivors include his parents, Lewis Sr. and Deborah K. Taylor; brothers, Lewis Jr. (Jenny) and Aaron Taylor; paternal grandmother, Lillie Pearl Taylor; uncles, Larry Joe, Ricky, Timothy (Valerie), Russell (Debora) Taylor, Arthur and Delbert Brandon; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives; and many friends.

Sharon Annette Wandling went to live with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 17, 2012. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Wandling; mother, Vivian Maxine Wyler; mom, Genny Rhodes; sister, Virginia "Gen" Chambliss; and grandson, Chad.Sharon was the owner and operator of Wandling's Personal Care Home. Sharon always had an open table; anyone stopping by would always enjoy a homecooked meal. Sharon always enjoyed family outings to Cass and holidays. She wasn't just a great mother, but a wonderful wife and friend.
Sharon is survived by her children, Tammy and Dan Harrison, Tanya Bailey, David and Tammy Wandling, all of Cross Lanes, and Don and Marcie Wandling of Charleston; and 12 grandchildren, Genevieve, Matheau, Daniel, Olivia, Chelsea, Chase, Kristen, Kerri and Austen, all of Cross Lanes, and Brandon, Jonah and Ashten, all of Charleston.

In addition, she leaves a host of six generations of loving grandchildren.
