I agree with the caller on Black History Month.  Why have a month when a week would do?  We don't have white history month.

Can someone please tell me why one lady in a nice church chooses to be so mean to so many people and then act like nothing's happened a month or two later and try to get in with them again?

Years ago I listened to WVU on the radio, and I'd get upset and kick the trashcan. The lady next door said, "Dick, are you all right?" I blurted out, "No, we're losing." I have changed and remember when I worked at WCHS TV Ernie Saunders would always close out his sports show saying, "Win or lose, be a good sport." You know, I just thought God doesn't take sides.

I see where a venter says Mrs. Obama's going to make candy companies make smaller candy bars. Reese's cups are a fraction of the size they were in the '60s already.  What are we going to have, candy nuggets?

Are there any other Kanawha County school parents that are as confused as I am about the current school calendar? The calendar that I have from the newspaper says that June 1 is last day for students. There are OS days after Memorial Day. That sounds to me like those are off days. Why does it say June 1 is last day for students?

To the person who said that West Virginians should get organized and protest about the high gas prices, well the only way you're going to get West Virginians to protest or lead a parade about anything is have Jesus at the head.

All West Virginians and Americans are complaining about the gas prices. Don't blame the oil companies. Blame our president, Barack Obama. He will not approve the Keystone Oil pipeline from Canada to Texas and will not approve permits for offshore oil drilling, so we will continue to depend on foreign countries for our oil.

My hat is off to any 70-year-old who still has the grit and the interest to stand up for what he believes. I'm 74, and I will work for Mr. Obama's re-election.

Concerning the recent comment by a reader that liberals have higher IQs than conservatives, a recent study by the Brock University in Ontario says low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward conservative beliefs and have tendencies to be racists.

Always look to history for the truth. During those election years that Republicans think they have a realistic chance of winning the White House, gas prices seem to mysteriously go up, up, up! Watch gas prices continue their increase until Election Day.  Wonder whom the oil companies want to win the election?

President Obama has said over and over that he is a Christian and although there is zero evidence that he is a Muslim, phony Christians still call him one. These same people never expressed doubt about Bush's Christianity even though he said Muslims go to heaven in an ABC interview.

Ollie has told us before he is not good at numbers. Ollie take your socks off and count your toes. That is a 10. That is how many teams the Big 12 has. It is made up of nine teams from one part of the country and one orphan from the other side of the country. Since your goal is to be commissioner of the Big 12 at least get the number right. Hope you get hired soon and get back to Texas. You have done enough harm here.

Why has Kanawha County Schools had so many contractors from Ohio, South Carolina, New Jersey and Delaware working in our schools? Let's put West Virginians to work. Help us out, Dr. Duerring.

In spite of the hatemongers, I agree with the caller. President Obama is doing a good job, but this 87-year-old lady's greatest president was FDR. My only regret, I was only 20 when he died and didn't get to vote for him.

Oil companies are dumb. Higher prices for gasoline will result in people buying more vehicles that use less gasoline or no gasoline at all. There will be no going back once the newer vehicles become popular.

To the Oliver Luck bashers, if you could just please read Tuesday's Gazette and try to understand, that is if you're literate, Oliver Luck's vision for WVU. You might close your mouth and quit venting and realize that it's a different sports world, as is the whole world in general.

I see the Republicans want less government except when it comes to women's bodies, their version of theology, workers' rights. They want to control everything and want more government for everything except what the Democrats want.

I have noticed over the past few years that our leaders are just chipping away at the Constitution, and in some cases circumventing or bypassing the original intent. Just like a lawyer cussing you out and making you like it with clever words. I just wonder what really happened to the separation of church and state.

Why is a sexual enhancing drug for a male OK to be on every health benefit but not birth control? If this issue was not so critical it would be hilarious. Again, women are reduced to secondhand citizens. I'm amazed that women still have the right to vote.

To the person wanting to impeach the president: He has not done anything to be impeached whereas Bush lied to get us in an unnecessary war.

Republicans said the bailouts wouldn't work, but General Motors just made their largest profit ever, just two years after they were bailed out by President Obama. Also the stock market just hit 13000. Republicans have showed they know nothing and Obama has shown he is a great leader.

Please get back on track and support our president. Act like a liberal newspaper. He needs our help this year to stop the Republican clown show.

The purpose of Obamacare is to enable all Americans access to health care. That means men and women. No one is asking anyone to set aside their personal religious beliefs.  There are medical issues that are intimate and private and should be handled by a patient and their doctor. These issues should not involve the patient's employer.

Just spent the morning picking trash up blowing all over my neighborhood, and people in my neighborhood would step on it, walk over it or drive over it before they'd bend over and pick it up. I can't believe how lazy people have become.
