Jim Barach's Outlook from the Storm Team Weather Center
Showers & Storms Through Wednesday...Then Getting Hot!
A cold front will move through the region tonight which will set off showers and storms, especially in the western part of the viewing area. The storms will taper off overnight but warm and humid conditions along with several upper level disturbances moving through will make for more showers and storms for Wednesday and Thursday as well. With mostly cloudy skies tonight along with the
storms, the overnight low temperature will be 60 degrees. Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with afternoon showers and thunderstorms. The high temperature will drop to a seasonable 77 degrees. Wednesday will also be mostly cloudy with scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. The high temperature will warm a bit to 79 degrees.
As the low pressure system moves out of the region on Thursday, skies will become partly cloudy but there could still be some lingering rain showers, especially during the early part of the day. The high temperature will warm to 85 degrees. High pressure will move in on Friday which will make for mostly sunny skies and some hot temperatures. In fact, we could see the first 90 degree day of the year.
The weekend will be under the influence of high pressure for both days. Saturday will be mostly sunny and dry. The high temperature will stay on the hot side and come in at 92 degrees. Sunday will be mostly sunny with high pressure still in control. The high temperature will drop slightly to a still hot 91 degrees.
Memorial Day Monday will be partly cloudy as a storm system approaches the region. The additional cloud cover will be just enough to knock the high temperature back down to 89 degrees. Low pressure will move in on Tuesday which will make for mostly cloudy skies along with showers and thunderstorms. The high temperature will drop a bit to 85 degrees. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. The high temperature will drop again to 83 degrees. Thursday will also see mostly cloudy skies along with showers and storms with low
pressure still over the region. The high temperature will drop slightly to 82 degrees.
A quick look back at the weekend forecast showed that things worked out very well. Saturday was mostly sunny as forecast with the high temperature making it to 84 degrees, one degree off the forecast high temperature. Sunday was partly cloudy and dry as forecast. The high temperature came in at 85 degrees, just one degree off the forecast high temperature of 86 degrees. I would like to thank everyone who came out to the Great Strides Walk to fight Cystic Fibrosis. The weather was perfect and an estimated 500 people showed up for the event. Kudos to all!
Tonight: Skies will be mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms, mostly out to the west. The overnight low temperature will be 60 degrees.
Tuesday: An area of low pressure will make for mostly cloudy skies along with afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. The high temperature will cool to a seasonable 77 degrees.
Wednesday: Low pressure will again be over the region for another day of mostly cloudy skies along with showers and thunderstorms. The high temperature will rise slightly to 79 degrees.
Thursday: The low pressure system will start to move out of the region which will make for partly cloudy skies after a chance of morning showers. The high temperature will warm to 85 degrees.
Friday: High pressure will take over as the dominant weather feature which will make for mostly sunny skies and dry conditions. It will also be hot, with the high temperature making it to 90 degrees for the first time this year.
Saturday: The Memorial Day Holiday Weekend will kick off with sunny skies and dry conditions, again under high pressure. The high temperature will warm to 92 degrees.
Sunday: Another hot day will be on the way as high pressure remains in control. The high temperature will make it to 91 degrees.
Memorial Day Monday: Skies will be partly cloudy and dry as a storm system starts to move into the region. The high temperature will drop a bit to 89 degrees.
Tuesday: Skies will be mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms as a low pressure system moves in. The high temperature will drop to 85 degrees.
Wednesday: Low pressure will make for another day of showers and thunderstorms. The high temperature will drop to 83 degrees.
Thursday: Low pressure will again be in control which will mean more clouds along with showers and thunderstorms. The high temperature will cool again to 82 degrees.
One Final Note: The Memorial Day Weekend could be another scorcher like last year. We could be in or near the 90s all three days, so make sure your plans call on some time indoors to cool off and be out of the direct sunlight!
